A Detailed Overview of The PDO Thread Lift Procedure

Polydioxanone PDO thread lifts are becoming quite common these days.

With so many celebrities opting for PDO lifts instead of facial surgeries due to their non-invasive procedure, PDO thread lifts are the new craze in the cosmetic surgery world.

Here are some details about the PDO thread lift procedure.

What Are PDO Thread Lifts?

PDO threads have been around for several years for treating gynecological disorders or suturing incisions after medical mishaps. PDO thread lifts contract fat tissue leading to skin tightening and lifting. It promotes the production of collagen and neovascularization to renew your skin on a cellular level. All of this leads to better skin texture, fewer lines, tight skin, and a facelift.

How Long Does the Procedure Take?

The procedure doesn’t take too long, ranging from fifteen minutes to half an hour. Since it’s a non-invasive procedure, it doesn’t require extra aftercare— you’re free to do anything you like all day afterward!

What Should I Expect Before and During Treatment?

Before administering a PDO thread lift, your surgeon will apply a numbing agent and local anesthetic to the area where you’re getting the lift. Though the needles used for this procedure are super fine, anesthesia is also administered to ensure that the patient feels no pain.

PDO threads are inserted through blunt tip needles known as cannulas or sharp-tipped needles. They act as anchors that lift your face, resulting in tightening of the skin; afterward, the threads are cut off. Additionally, PDO thread lifts last between one to three years, depending on the elasticity of your skin and age.

What Are Some Complications of PDO Thread Lifts?

PDO thread lifts are relatively safe and have much lower risks of complications as compared to facelift surgeries. If being performed by trained professionals, there’s very little chance of scarring, bleeding, or bruising. However, minor complications do occur in 15–20% of procedures but can be corrected easily. These include inflammation, visible sutures, infection, dimpling, bruising, and sometimes the accumulation of blood.

If you get your PDO thread lift done by professionals, you won’t have to worry about complications.
