What to Expect
The first step is your free consultation.
Before Treatment
To prepare for a chemical peel, avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, exfoliants, and harsh skincare products (such as retinoids, AHAs, and BHAs) for at least one week before your appointment. Keep your skin hydrated and inform your provider of any skin conditions or medications you are using. If you have a history of cold sores, an antiviral medication may be recommended to prevent flare-ups.
During Treatment
Your skin will be cleansed before the chemical solution is applied. You may feel a mild tingling, stinging, or warmth, depending on the strength of the peel. The solution stays on the skin for a few minutes before being neutralized or removed. Light peels cause minimal discomfort, while deeper peels may create a more intense sensation. The entire session typically lasts 30–45 minutes.
After Treatment
Mild redness and sensitivity are common immediately after the peel. Depending on the type of peel, you may experience flaking or peeling over the next 3–7 days as dead skin sheds, revealing smoother, brighter skin underneath. Avoid sun exposure, heat, and harsh skincare products during this period. Keep your skin hydrated and apply SPF 30+ daily to protect new skin. Full results appear once peeling subsides, typically within one to two weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions
You may notice brighter, smoother skin within a few days after a light peel. For deeper peels, full results become visible after one to two weeks, once the peeling process is complete.
Downtime depends on the type of peel. Light peels have minimal downtime with mild flaking, while medium to deep peels may require 5–7 days for peeling and recovery.
It’s best to avoid makeup for at least 24–48 hours after the treatment to allow your skin to heal. Once peeling subsides, you can use light, non-comedogenic makeup.
Light peels can be done every 4–6 weeks, while deeper peels are recommended every 3–6 months, depending on your skin goals and provider’s advice.
